My fans have no doubt noticed my ars posting output has been way down for some time now and I have spent much less time on IRC.
There are a long list of reasons, one of them is that I have moved. Another is that I have been consulting in an area far removed from my technical background and that has taken a lot of study.
Still another is that for a considerable time we were deep in an investigation that did not pan out.
Here is a bit of history:
Affidavit of Keith Henson re "Bank of America" phone call
I am over the age of 18. If called upon in a court of law, I can and will testify to these matters.
August 31, 2002 at about 11:30 am a man called and represented himself as working in the credit department of Bank of America. When I asked, he gave me a name of Robert Sanchez and a number of 800-228-7882. A phone call later revealed this to be the toll free number of a paper company in California.
This man claimed to be trying to complete a credit application for Mr. Gregg Hagglund, his wife and son and that I had been given as a reference. He claimed to need my employment and location. I didn't realize it was a fraudulent call at first and gave him a good part of what he wanted. Mr. Hagglund had picked up the phone when it rang and was listening silently for a time but after a while he spoke up and made it clear that he had not filled out any credit applications recently. He asked the guy to fax him a copy of the application he claimed to be working from.
After the call ended Mr. Hagglund and I became increasingly suspicious. I dialed *57 to trap the number for the police. Then Gregg tried *69. The number he got back is 905-xxx-xxxx. I did a bit of investigating using the Internet for nearby phone numbers and found this was a Rogers ATT number. A call to Rogers verified this was one of their numbers and it belonged a long-term subscriber. Possibly the person who made the call was not aware that cell phones were recently connected to the *69 service. Rogers give a name of someone in the security department (Paul) and the number of 416-935-xxxx for the police to call after the holiday to get the name of the subscriber.
Part way through the call, I was getting suspicious that there was something wrong. That induced me to turn on a tape recorder.
SNIP
Gregg is not certain about it, but he thinks this voice is the same or very similar to the voice of the last (third) phone threat he reported to the police.
This is not the first time people have called misrepresenting themselves as bank employees. A woman misrepresenting herself as working for Scotia bank called a few months ago asking inappropriate questions. Later checking with Scotia bank indicated they had not made the call.
I called and requested that the Halton police have someone from the Fraud squad call us. Constable xxxxxxxx (905-878-5511 Ext xxxx) called back a few hours later. Mr. Hagglund gave Officer xxxxxxxx this story and a 45-minute update on investigations and events involving Scientology's harassment of him and his family since 1997.
The above statement is true to the best of my knowledge. Signed under penalty of perjury under the laws of Ontario in Oakville, Ontario.

This set off quit a bit of investigation into the background of the person who we thought had made the phone call. Nothing connecting to scientology came to light in spite of considerable effort and expense.
Not long ago one of the people investigating talked directly to the person whose number we had trapped. Unfortunately it turned out he was a furniture delivery guy who had phoned Gregg's number right after the "Bank of America" call without the phone ringing or any indication on the line that there was a subsequent phone call. This over wrote the previous trapped number.
The only point for further investigation is the recording of the last part of the phone call. It is up at

I would appreciate all those who know any scientology voices and can use Real Audio to listen to this 1 minute, 20 seconds of audio and see of you can recognize the voice. If you do, let me know.
Keith Henson
PS, the voice is similar to the one here from a June picket that I posted about Nov 2 or 3.

The first is 1.7 Mbytes, the second is 3.2.
If someone has access to a voice analyzer it would be most interesting to compare the voices.
