As you requested, the following is a brief chronology of the actions takers with the Toronto police since the arrival of Mr. Henson, convicted hate mongerer from the United States.

12 May 2001

Mr. Henson, accompanied by a Mr. Greg Hagglund and four other individuals, arrived at the Colony Hotel located in downtown Toronto. They picketed the hotel front and back entrances, carrying picket signs denouncing the Church, in an effort to upset Church parishioners and staff attending a religious celebration at the hotel. At this particular picket, Mr. Hagglund threatened to go to the home of parishioner Dan Bryenton, (as he had done before) and Mr. Bryenton demanded that Hagglund stay away from his home and family. We learn that Mr. Henson has been convicted of a hate crime in the U.S. and is to appear for sentencing on May 16th.

14 May 2001

It was found that Mr. Henson had posted to an Internet newsgroup, alt.religion.scientology, that he had no intention of returning to Riverside California to appear for his sentencing hearing. Further Mr. Henson taunts parishioner Dan Bryenton in another posting, indicating that he and Mr. Hagglund have again been by Mr. Bryenton's home, boasting that they can go where they please. Reverend Al Buttnor contacts Superintendent Adrian Maher, of 52 Division. It is arranged for Rev. Buttnor and Mrs. Pat Felske to meet with officers to brief them on Mr. Henson and the above stalking incident. Mrs. Felske and Rev. Buttnor visit the police and an incident report is taken down. They are given copies of recent internet postings (as noted above) and a briefing on Mr. Henson and his bomb threat and conviction. Mrs. Felske indicates that Mr. Bryenton will be filing his own complaint in relation to the threatened further harassment.

Mr. Dan Bryenton files his own written complaint in relation to Mr. Hagglund and Mr. Henson, with 52 Division.

15 May 2001

Mrs. Felske follows up with Supt. Maher and receives a message that a Det. Sgt. Marilyn McCann of 52 CIB has been assigned to deal with the complaint. Supt. Maher also indicates in his message that Mr. Bryenton's premises have been placed under special attention. Mrs. Felske speaks with Det. McCann, who confirms that Mr. Bryenton's home has been placed under special attention. She explains that they will check with NCIC to determine if there is an outstanding warrant for Mr. Henson's arrest issued by the U.S. as they need to know if the U.S. will accept Mr. Henson for return if he is arrested here in Canada. She further explains that they will be contacting immigration Canada.

16 May 2001

Mr. Henson fails to appear for sentencing in Riverside, California. Internet posts made confirm he is still in Canada residing with Mr. Gregg Hagglund at his home in Oakville, Ontario. Mrs. Felske follows up with Det. McCann to find out what the procedure is for the return of Mr. Henson to California. She explains that they need to have a valid warrant, and have authorization in writing from the U.S. that they will return Henson. She indicates that another officer, Det. Steve Bilak is to check with immigration Canada, but has had no report on this as yet. They are investigating Mr. Bryenton's complaint as well.

17 May 2001

A copy of the minute order of the U.S. court on Mr. Henson's conviction for failing to appear for sentencing is obtained and sent to Det. McCann. 18 May 2001 Mrs. Felske followed up with net McCann to clarify with her what the procedure is to have Mr. Henson returned to the U.S. Det. McCann does not know what Immigration Canada will do, but said again that the police need a bench warrant and authorization from the law enforcement in the U.S. that they will return Henson. She is given the name and phone number of the District Attorney in California. She also indicates that unless Mr. Henson commits a criminal act here in Canada, the police cannot do anything and he is allowed to picket.

18 May 2001

Mr. Henson and Mr. Hagglund appear outside the premises of the Church of Scientology of Toronto, and picket for approximately an hour. A message is left for Det. McCann about this picket. Henson boasts that he's retained an immigration lawyer to obtain refugee status in Canada, claiming human rights violations by the U.S. District Attorney's office.

21 May 2001

Mr. Henson, accompanied by Mr. Hagglund and five other individuals again conducted a "surprise" picket at the premises of the Church of Scientology of Toronto in an effort to disturb Church staff and parishioners. Mrs. Felske calls Det. McCann and lets her know another picket has occurred - the third since Mr. Henson's arrival in Toronto. Mrs. Felske also contacts the general number for 52 Division and explains the situation. They despatch a patrol car to the Church. Mrs. Felske meets with Constable Virani (Badge #3687) and his partner Constable Thrush (Badge #7995). They are briefed on Mr. Henson and Mr. Hagglund and the complaints filed in relation to them that are being dealt with by Det. McCann. These officers contact their supervisor, Sgt. Robert Morgan, who comes to the Church. After he is briefed, he instructs Constable Virani to get with NCIC for outstanding warrants, and Constable Virani speaks to Mr. Henson who confirms he was convicted in the U.S. Sgt. Morgan had Constable Virani do up an incident report to be given to Det. McCann for her attention first thing in the morning. He indicates he will also personally speak to Det. McCann to tell her about the picket and our concern on the escalating harassment. He suggests Mrs. Felske follow up with Det. McCann the next day.

22 May 2001

Mrs. Felske leaves a message for Det. McCann that she has leaned that the District Attorney in the U.S. would like a declaration (affidavit) from the Constable who spoke with Mr. Henson at the picket of 21 May 2001. This is needed for a motion being done by the U.S. prosecutor to have Mr. Henson sentenced in abstentia. (while he has been convicted, no sentence has been imposed, due to his failure to appear.)

22 May 2001

Det. Steve Bone of 52 CIB contacts Mrs. Felske and indicates that the police are going to try to pursue an immigration infraction in relation to Mr. Henson, which would require that they take him into custody. This will occur in a day or so, as they are first obtaining a warrant. He indicates that they appreciate all the information that Mrs. Felske has provided. Det. Bone indicates that he doesn't want it mentioned to Mr. Henson or Mr. Hagglund what the police are doing, as Mr. Henson may flee. Right now they know where he is.
