If the state drops criminal charges against CoS because of "religious freedom" it will set a far reaching and dangerous precedent for ALL religious bodies. They will be able to: 1. decide what is mental illness/psychosis 2. hold a person that they deem mentally ill against their will 3. hold this person incommunicado without the ability to get legal or other outside assistance. 4. deem when and if family members/friends can see the "patient" 5. apply whatever medical aid their "scriptures" prescribe whether it is medically sound or not. Slaughter's "she was like family" remarks are ridiculous. There is no record of her visiting or asking about her welfare. If a family kept their daughter under these very same conditions until she died, they would be charged with manslaughter. [....]
