I wrote this in response to Mr. Sommer's article (http://tampatrib.com/MGIUK8NZE9C.html). I think those of you who are concerned about this travesty of justice would do well to express your sentiments to whomever you feel appropriate. Steve G. "Mr. Sommer, I just read your piece regarding the dropping of charges in the Lisa McPherson case. I'd like to compliment you on a well written article. I'm very curious about one aspect of this event: what connection is there between any possible testimony by Dr. Wood and the charges against Scientology: practising medicine without a license and abuse/neglect of a disabled adult? The issue isn't what killed Ms. McPherson, it's what was done to her prior to her death, no? In my opinion, the State has allowed itself to be distracted from the core of their case by an extremely well financed diversionary attack by Scientology's laywers and hired M.E.s . The written records of the Ft. Harrison staffers charged with watching Lisa McPherson state unequivocally she was held, force fed, and given prescription medicine such as chloral hydrate and valium by people not licensed to practise medicine in Florida. I'm not saying the case was a guaranteed conviction, but these points in no way become moot because of Dr. Wood's waffling. I hope to see these questions raised by your paper as this event is given greater scrutiny.
