Having cleared the hurdle of a criminal case, the most dangerous one, a civil case is just a check-writing no-further-liability exercise that makes it all go away, ie, we feel real non-liable bad, here's a couple of million, shut up and go away.
Instead, they're going to drag it out, they're going play dirty, be dirty, make assholes of themselves and generally cause the image of Scientology to be mercilessly tainted in this information age acting as if it were good old 1955.
With instant information retrieval now the norm for everyman and his dog's portable and wireless mobile device at work and at home, the less said of a negative nature, the better. Scientology is being run by completely clueless fucks who think they're all living in the golden age of L Ron Hubbard's mid-20th century post WW2 mindset. The information technology of that era was generally reading what remained of last weeks newspaper that didn't end up lining the budgie cage first, and shithouse floor second with some intervening viewing moments before being asswipe sheets.
As a result of the state of ignorance high up in Scientology circles, people are just lapping up this information in bulk. As Jeff Jacobsen said in another message:
