This week, Judge Schaeffer denied a motion by Scientology that would have prohibited the Estate of Lisa McPherson from bringing the issue of "net accumulations" before the jury. "Net accumulations" are what Lisa McPherson would have saved over an average lifetime (had she not died) and that is estimated to be over $1 million. Please keep in mind that "net accumulations" are in addition to punitive damages which can be of any amount. This issue can now go before a jury in the trial, which is scheduled to begin September 23, 2002.
