Two Major Rulings Against Scientology
Today, Judge Baird finally ruled on the many motions by Scientology to disqualify Ken Dandar. He denied all their motions.
Also today, the Florida Second District Court of Appeals ruled on Scientology's appeal of Judge Schaeffer's ruling in the omnibus motion, along with a request to remove Judge Schaeffer and replace her with another judge. (The omnibus motion took on a life of its own in Spring 2002 when Robert S. Minton and Stacy Brooks went over to Scientology and basically became their witnesses. Judge Schaeffer had ruled against Scientology in a big way on this ) The 2DCA ruled against Scientology.
There is currently one remaining appeal pending before the 2DCA by Minton regarding the counterclaim, but that can be heard after the trial. So, barring any appeals by Scientology, the trial will soon go on. It is not known whether or not Scientology will appeal the 2DCA ruling to the Florida Supreme Court.
