Luke Lirot's response to all the well wishers who sent him emails.
This message is being sent with sincere gratitude to everyone that expressed approval with what I certainly believe is a monumental victory in the Lisa McPherson related actions. Your encouragement means more to me than you will ever know and, unless you have gone through it, no one would ever believe the abusive and despicable tactics that the Dandars and I are faced with everyday.
At this point, I cannot tell you how many times the Dandars have been referred to the Florida Bar for baseless allegations, and now I have also become a victim of their unethical practices. Regardless of their high tech presentations, expensive poster boards, and cutting edge audio visual presentations, Ken and I prevailed simply using butcher paper and a magic marker to draw our points to the jury.
Refreshingly, the Church's high paid assassins did not even pick up on basic criminal law tactics that an intern in the Legal Aide Office would pick up on. Regardless of anything else, this jury verdict renews my faith in the American system of justice and, amazingly, shows that big money and bullshit don't always ensure that a jury can be "bought," as I am sure that many Americans suspect after trials like the OJ Simpson debacle, etc
For the record, I did not "violate court orders," (certainly not 40 times) or do anything else unethical during the proceedings at issue. Scientology's accusations are in reference to a preclusion order that was issued by Judge Baird when Mr. Dandar refused to answer deposition questions or provide documents, the requests for which clearly revealed that Scientology's prosecution of the "breach of contract" case was not in any way related to any legitimate goal, but was rather simply an attempt to exploit that case in an effort to get materials they would never be entitled to in the wrongful death case.
Through questions related to other issues, for entirely legitimate reasons, the jury was left with enough information to use their own common sense and come to the correct conclusions. Amazingly, if Mr. Rosen had actually believed that any of my questions regarding other issues or statements I made in opening argument touched upon the (nebulously and inappropriately precluded) issues apparently barred by the Court, which apparently included the reasons any of the "Defendants" had been sought to be added to the wrongful death complaint in the original motion to add parties whether or not Minton's money went to the wrongful death case, and whatever other ancillary issues Rosen wanted to keep from the jury to try to keep them in the dark, Mr. Rosen neglected to request a mistrial, either on the basis of any individual statement or on the basis of the so-called "cumulative" effects of the extensive accusations they are now inappropriately making against me. Nonetheless, I have some concern, because even though Judges are very reluctant to tamper with jury verdicts, Judge Baird seemed more disappointed with the jury verdict than Mr. Rosen. In any event, I will always cherish the image of Mr. Rosen laughing in my face when I told him that we wanted a jury trial.
Under any circumstances, I am sure that I will now be a target of the "dead agent" doctrine, or subject to some "fair game" attack, so if you hear that I have been caught with large amounts of controlled substance, that I have thrown my wife down the stairs, or that I am a member of the communist party, don't believe it. If you hear that I am hanging around with exotic dancers, please don't let that upset you. Many of them are my Clients. I just hope that I don't get confused and try to convince Ken Dandar to wear a g-string.
Peace and love to all.
