At 11:55 a.m. today, February 19th, I arrived at work and drove down Watterson Street to park behind the offices of the Lisa McPherson Trust.
I entered the building and unlocked the studios of LMT Media and XENU TV and powered up the equipment.
At 12 noon, two Clearwater Police officers, W. Smith and Eddie Lee, came to the back door and informed me that I was not allowed to drive through the white lines.
"I'm not allowed to DRIVE through the lines!?" I exclaimed.
"No, sir" Officer Smith told me. "Under the rules of the injunction you can't go through those lines during the set hours. There was an incident yesterday when you tried to cross the lines..."
"Yes," I explained. "I was told that I had to be served first before the injunction would be enforced and I haven't been served."
"You were notified in court," Smith said.
"The judge said that the three of us had to be served officially and then we would have a hearing. I thought this didn't take affect until we were served," I explained.
Officer Smith was adamant. He told me they were being civil about it this time but I am not allowed to drive through those lines.
I asked how do I park on this street then and Officer Lee pointed to the parking structure across the street saying, "That parking lot is free on weekends."
They left to write their report and keep the streets safe from scoundrels like me. I came in to file this report.
Life in Clearwater goes on.
