You never fail to amuse. :0)
Tory's "cuss words" must have been a major affront to the OSA members seated in the seminar. How did Tory ever manage to be a beloved member of Scientology for 30 years with a potty mouth like hers? Why on earth would she be called upon to be an OSA volunteer when she can't be trusted to speak without uttering "potty" words? What were the editors of "What is Scientology?" thinking when they included her in their latest edition, published just as she was publicly exiting the cult?
But OSA members are not the hardy stock they once were. For instance, Mary DeMoss attended the conference. I was absolutely delighted to see Mary and made a couple of requests to sit down with her and have a friendly chat but she refused.
On Saturday night, I tried again as she and Gerard Renna entered the lounge where a large group of us were relaxing. I went over to her and asked if she would join us. She declined. As she was leaving, I asked for a hug.
"C'mon, Mary. Give me a hug. Just give me a nice hug."
She refused and silently exited. Thirty seconds later, she and Gerard returned with one of the officers that the LJRF had hired for the event. I went over to them and the officer asked me if I had asked for a hug. I said yes and was told by the officer that I shouldn't do that.
I was rather dumbfounded, which is a state I've perfected over the course of many years. I asked what the offense might be and was told that "it could be menacing."
"A menacing hug?!" I replied. I was very nicely asking Mary to join us and chat and (having previously been told that I am actually quite huggable) I never expected my offer to be anything but kind. Still, I agreed to follow the letter of the law and did not again attempt to hug Mary.
However, I soon went on a hugging spree that found my arms wrapped around many a man, woman and child, none of whom complained about being menaced...except for possibly Duncan Pierce who looked none to happy...but even he did not file a police report.
My favorite hugging partner turned out to be Astra Woodcrafts' daughter Kate who wore me out as we chased each other through the halls of the Cleveland Hilton.
Some day, Mary and I will hug and we will be good friends.
Now, c'mon, Tigger...give me a hug!
