Just moments ago I took a victory march through the white lines on Watterson Street.
In a hearing this afternoon, Judge Pennick decreed that we can walk through the lines when we're not protesting. We must announce our names to the police then we are free to cross.
As I strode manfully to the white lines, I announced in a strong but not booming voice "I'm Mark Bunker and I'm here to cross the white lines!"
Officer Holsombach (who was on the scene for my hammer attack) replied, "I know who you are and I've heard about the ruling...proceed."
I then walked down the street...just like a citizen...
A citizen who has to stay ten feet away from church property that is.
Okay... Holsombach didn't say "Proceed" and it wasn't much of a victory but it's still nice to be able to walk down the damn street like a human being.
And it's rather fun to announce your name while strolling outside. Try it sometime.
On my return trip from the newstand, I added a little salute. "I'm Mark Bunker!" (salute)
"This is Mark Bunker...signing off!"
