Scientology
Does anyone know if it is inappropriate for 501(c)3
organizations to intervene in foreign affairs? First accusing
Germany of being on the verge of another holocaust, then
pressuring Sweden to ignore its constitution, and now trying to
intervene with the IMF and Nigeria to get at Bob Minton.
All supported by the US government, in the form us tax
deductible contributions, congressional hearings, letters, and
bills, and the new State Department mandate to monitor purely
religious activity abroad.
Is this a proper activity for a "religious" organization? Given
the recent bills in congress to monitor religious activity
abroad, it seems like it will be increasingly common.
Why did it take until 50 years after the holocaust for the US
government to feel the need to separate out religious
persecution from general human rights issues. We used to be
"making the world safe for democracy." Is it to be this
countries next goal to "make the world safe for (whatever the
IRS considers to be a) religion" ?
