Why doesn't Bob Minton run for Mayor?
I think a tongue-in-cheek campaign would be a good idea.
Tongue-in-cheek to avoid the potential pitfall of looking like a crank if he loses, but serious enough to have an actual platform on the off-chance it actually works.
I doubt he'd actually be elected mayor, but it could serve the purpose of providing good publicity and some much-needed entertainment as well as getting the message out and opening a public dialogue.
It could be worth it for the sheer giggles of the cult screaming in agony alone. Even if the campaign were completely doomed from the git-go, the cult would be forced to take it seriously and spend lots of money on it.
