I don't know the answer to how far. I know that the big clear channel AM
station WABC-NY is 50,000 watts and covers 36 states. But I think these
are FM which is line of sight. A lot might depend on the antenna height
and I don't know what the limits will be. And, I think 100 watts is the
highest power station they will allow, you can have less. Maybe you
could reach Tampa and St. Pete.
What good it will do is:
Cult members could listen to it under the covers in bed at FLAG, Radio Free Europe-like. Tough to do that with a computer.
Up to 24 hour a day coverage, if you've got the electricity and programming. Tough to buy that much radio time even in a tiny commercial station. No, you can't read OT III and NOTs all day. But there are reams of stuff people have written that they _will_ permit you to read. And you can have discussions. And guests. And music. And news.
If the cult jams it, I believe the FCC _will_ come to the rescue. And such a prosecution would be on the Federal dime, no drain on the LMT.
Plus, I get to produce two hours per week for coming up with the idea, and I have some GREAT plans for it. ;-)
