Let's take a look at a few things. Let's take a little look at the viewpoint from the C of S management.
First of all, the fact that Mike Rinder met with Bob and Stacy says a lot. It says that the current management is so weak that they can no longer get a lawyer to intimidate or threaten people for them. Also, they do not have someone they feel is competent enough to do it. It places the management and Mike Rinder especially in great danger to do this type of dirty work without doing it through other people.
Next, it is doubtful that they could have gotten these concessions from Bob and Stacy without compromising themselves legally by doing grossly illegal things. It is probable that they were illegally tapping the LMT and Bob and Stacy's phones and eavesdropping on their internet communications. It is probable that they had a spy in the LMT.
For Mike Rinder to HIMSELF blackmail (probably) Bob and Stacy and risk culpability says a great deal. It says that they are very, very weak.
That Scientology lawyers are no longer willing to do their dirty work unquestioningly. That they have had to hire 'outside help' and that they have not been able to get the 'outside help' to threaten and intimidate people and they don't dare ask their underlings to do so because they are either too dumb, too out of the loop or too incompetent.
Look at the other side. Scientology is bleeding badly. Ronnie Miscavige gone. Ray Mithoff has been invisible for at least 4 or 5 years. Greg Wilhere? Where is he? RPF'd?
And what about the 2 brothers who at one time controlled Author Services? Didn't one of them retire? One of them was the executor of the LRH estate. Forgot his name temporarily. But he had a fine mind.
Who do they have to think things through now?
These are dangerous times for the C of S. It's getting pretty lonely at the top of that pyramid now! Who can they trust?
'Turning' Bob and Stacy was more an act of desparation than anything else.
