My favorite Bob time was the first night he met me at the airport, after my escape. He and Stacy and Jesse stood there....quietly as the Scios ranted and jumped up and down. It was pretty comical.
Stacy had said to me hours earlier, "Stay on the phone....we're going to walk you through this. We've been through this before". I was at the airport (LAX) and Janet Weiland, the VP of C of S had showed up! She was telling me how I "wasn't going to go to Clearwater and see those bad people".
Stacy and Bob both helped me all the way to the plane. Janet kept following me. Since my plane had been cancelled I had to now get a new flight. She stuck with me the whole way. I remember loving Bob's voice. (Again, so amazing considering days earlier I only thought of him as a really bad person).
He got on the phone and said, "Tory, here's the thing. I'm going to get you a first class ticket because in First Class there is a room you can go into that ~only~ people with First class tickets can get in. So Janet will NOT be able to get in there".
He reminded me of someone I had known long ago. Ok...I got in the room, and did lose her with that. However, she had stuck with me as I got my new itinerary....so they mapped out the rest of my trip!
Again....as I finally walked off the plane in Tampa, Florida at 1:45 am there was Bob, Stacy and Jesse..........and all the Scinos, with Penny Jones leaping up and down at the end of the ramp.
Also, the police. The policeman announced, "She has to pick".
I talked to Penny for 2 min's and then said, "I pick them!" *pointing to Bob, Stacy and Jesse.
The cops held out their arms holding all Scios back and said, "STAND BACK!"
As we walked away with the Tampa Police Escort, Bob Minton announced loudly, "Ladies and Gentlemen....this disturbance is because of The CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY!!!".
Having just left my job as E.D. of The Scientology Parishioners League" (whose job it was to "Handle" Black PR or bad things about C of S) I whispered to Bob...."Shhhhhhhh....don't say that!" :)
We three walked off and Bob and Stacy and I spent the entire night up all night talking and laughing and getting to know each other. It was the beginning of a long friendship.
I wish my friends well. I miss seeing them greatly.
I hope this ends sooooooon, and turns out somehow, someway, better than it seems right now for all.

Ok...ok...it's late....and I'm kidding!!!
Pardon me for having some happy memories. In the midst of difficult times, sometimes ya have to remember the good times, I believe.
