Here they are discussing the LMT's tax returns of 2000 in relation to the "Fat Man" (UBS) checks that went through Operation Clambake.

Particularly, its brief turn through the LMT. Considering it was represented as a "donation" to LMT, it would have been (if this statement were actually true) income to LMT and would be required to be declared on LMT's income tax returns. It wasn't. It was instead put directly into Bob Minton's pocket as a "loan repayment."

Anyone on the Board of the LMT remember any "loans" to the LMT?

Or were they characterized as "gifts" or something else at the time?

In any case, money takes some tortured paths in getting from Minton's right pocket to his left pocket, and undergoes many magical transformations, from "donation" to "loan repayment."

Bob writes his checks on the First Bank of the Fifth Amendment and can't remember why.
