As yet unconfirmed:
In 1989, a person addressing a class of psych students in the L.A. area (Pierce College) warns them to avoid NarCONon, and says that he was part of a group of rehab professionals who were "suckered" into working on NarCONon's behalf. He claimed that they sued and got some regulatory types into the mix as well - the upshot being that Co$/NarCONon entered a binding agreement to, amongst other things, *never* advertise on television in California, or market NarCONon services to non-established Co$ members ever again.
An ad for NarCONon that ran on CNN last night caused the person who relayed this to me to recall the incident. She also recalls having been told that the charges being investigated at this groups instigation included child abuse and forced drugging of patients to keep them in line.
