On September 17'th, 2001, an individual by the name of Brack D. Bruce was reportedly apprehended by Oklahoma sheriff's deputies while on his way to Scientology's fake "drug treatment" facility they call "Narconon." The police had received a telephoned tip about the individual and acted on it, stopping the vehicle that was described in the tip.

Searches for "Brack Bruce" near "Scientology" fail to turn up any Internet web search hits that indicate he's a Scientology customer so it's not known whether this person is a Scientology customer, whether he was selling dope to Scientology customers, or whether he was purchasing Scientology's quack "drug treatment" scam at the time he was captured. The records I've turned up indicate a history of him being a user rather than a seller however my search for the September 17'th arrest records isn't complete enough to indicate whether he was indicted for dealing to Scientology customers or whether the new indictments were also strictly for possession for personal use.

I'm left wondering whether it might have been a Scientology operator that phoned in the tip. If Scientology's operators knew the guy was dealing dope at their facility, perhaps that was the easiest way to stop to that particular source. It's conjecture since I haven't found anyone willing to talk about the case to someone who is not a police officer or a prosecuting attorney.

Bruce was apprehended outside of the Scientology business near Arrowhead State Park, and was charged in Pittsburg County District Court with four new felony counts. I'm still attempting to get the documents related to that arrest and it may be that in that arrest he's named as "Bruce La Brack."

Here's some more information about the individual.

Oklahoma District Courts records indicate that Bruce was born on 01/Sep/1959. At the time of the September 17'th arrest he was reported as being age 41. The District Courts' records indicate that his last known address is the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office at 201 North Shartel, Oklahoma City, OK. 73102 which is listed as the office of Sheriff John Whetsel however that address is out of date since the Courts' records have the person flagged as having at least one outstanding warrant. Also there was a lot of building construction at this address over the past 5 years and telephone numbers to the offices there have been changed a number of times.

On 21/Apr/1999 a Criminal Felony case was filed in Bryan County case number CF-99-00151 (also CF-1999-00151 in some documents.) This was State of Oklahoma vs. Brack D. Bruce for unlawful possession of CD-Methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. The District Attorney's office was Mark Campbell. The arresting officer was apparently Mr. Donnie Long from the Durant Oklahoma Police Department.

According to the records, Bruce owes the State of Oklahoma some $256.00 in fees for the two indictments, $113.00 for the unlawful possession of CD-Meth and an additional $93.00 for the paraphernalia charge. (An additional charge of $30.00 comes up later for failure to appear.)

On the filing date of 21/Apr/1999, it appears there's a State appointed attorney by the name of E. Carney though there's also a city by the name of Carney, Oklahoma. The nomenclaiture in the documents tend to indicate that "E. Carney" is actually the name of an individual. The attorney was appointed on a "pro se" basis and apparently wasn't a court appointed attorney.

A hearing was apparently set for 19/May/1999 at 8:45a.m. since it appears that the defense attorney filed a claim of Not Guilty for count number 2, the paraphernalia charge. Bond was set for $2500.00 for count number 1 and for $500.00 for count number 2 on 21/Apr/1999.

The next day 22/Apr/1999 it looks like Bruce was bonded out paying $20.00, $10.00 "surety bond" for each count.

When 19/May/1999 came around, the hearing was apparently postponed since it was moved to 8:45a.m. on 06/Feb/1999.

On that date 06/Feb/1999, there was a preliminary hearing that involved G. Jenkins apparently as the defense attorney, and Benny. Robison as the prosecuting attorney. The defense waived all rights to "PH. CRT" (whatever that stands for) and it looks like a trial date was set for 06/Jul/1999 for trial as charged, starting at 1:30p.m.

When that day came -- 06/Jul/1999 -- it looks like the prosecuting attorney by the name of M. Campbell postponed the trial to 1:30p.m. on 03/Aug/1999.

On 03/Aug/1999 G. Jenkins for the defense and Benny Robison for the prosecution met and defense entered their claim of Not Guilty again though it looks like instead of a trial today, it ended up being another hearing because trial was postponed again for 07/Sep/1999 at 1:30p.m.

Then on 07/Sep/1999 G. Jenkins for the defense still as pro se issued some kind of an application to apply as the court appointed counsel for the defendant. I thought he already was. At the same time another date was requested for trial, it looks like, for 05/Oct/1999.

October 5'th came and went and Breck Bruce never showed up. On 28/Feb/2000 the records show that paper mail to the felon was returned with no forwarding address.

The bond was apparently defaulted on 03/Aug/2000 and an additional $30.00 fine was added to the charges for the bond violation.

What's interesting is that 11 months later we get to the new arrest for the Scientology dope thing that added four new felony charges. The disposition for case number CF-99-00151 hangs in limbo for those 11 months, and then hangs for an additional two years.

On 03/Nov/2003 a motion is filed for either a "speedy trial" else a dismissal of all charges.

On 18/Nov/2003 the motion was decided for a "speedy trial" to be ordered when the defendant "is returned to Oklahoma."

So I assume that the database for case number CF-99-00151 does not have the September 17'th arrest included in it since that would be another set of indictments yet I would have expected the September 17'th arrest to cause the 00151 trial to take place finally.

Alternatively the individual went to jail for the September 17'th felonies and will stand trial for these previous charges. I hope to get the court records for the latest arrest to fill in some of the holes.
