Devora Lindeman in her letter of Feb. 27 commented on William C. Smith's article, "Pass the Bar, Flunk Rehab." In her letter Lindeman praised and promoted Narconon as an effective drug rehab program. I interject a warning here that Narconon is, in fact, a sham drug rehab program that serves as a front group for the Church of Scientology, a group widely regarded as a notorius cult.
I found from personal experience that Narconon utilizes quack techniques that are not accredited by any legitimate health agency. I also found that many persons reported suffering serious medical problems from Narconon's program. Two dentists in Chicago suffered such serious liver damage that they lost their health insurance coverage.
Even more alarming are the reports from parents who paid Narconon $20,000 to rehab their sons and daughters only to find that they had been subjected to hypnotic indoctrination into the Scientology cult.
Here are good websites with truthful information on Narconon.
