formerscientologist asked this question on 5/14/2000:
What in your opinion is the most appalling crime committed by this group?
1uglyhombre gave this response on 5/15/2000:
That I know of? That would be difficult to say. Lisa McPherson's torture death certainly counts. That woman who was found on Hubbard's ship _Apollo_ with a bullet through her head was another; Quintin's mysterious suicide is another; for shere sinister, nazi-like hatefulness and evil,

The rat-infested warehousing of children to get them out of the way of "production" also applies.
Putting LSD in a pregnant woman's tooth paste certainly applies.
Putting illegal drugs in a reporter's car and then calling the police with an anonymous "tip" was very ugly.
Damn. You asked an excellent question, and I will have to think of it some more.
At the moment my answer is this: their greatest crime is the slandering of the mental health professions, and the slander of anti-depressant drugs. The gods only know how many people they have talked out of seeking treatments that could have saved their lives. Talking suicidal people out of seeking help is, to my mind, like giving a loaded hand gun to an infant. Inexcusable behavior.
I'll think more on your question.
