what is the real role that bumpy johnson play in fighting the mobs encroachment of the numbers racket in harlem? Did he fight schultz? was he just and enforcer for the mafia?

Bumpy was a numbers racketeer in competition with Arthur Flegenheimer (Dutch Shultz) for Harlem policy. It wasn't so much that he was the great black leader fighting against the Mafia, as he was an up and coming gangster fighting for his territory. Dutch's decision to whack Tom Dewey put him at odds with Luciano and the LCN leadership, so he had to go, but real life is a lot more complex than the the movie "Hoodlum" was.
