E-mail "threat" received yesterday, and other minor harassment
Usually the Scientologists leave me alone, knowing that I'm not doing anything about them and it's better not to get me started. But when I went to California two weeks ago, and visited (totally socially) a few major critics, weird things began happening again.
It appeared that on my last night in California, while I was visiting a major critic, someone tried to break into my hotel safe, and possibly also fooled around with my hotel bill. (But more likely it was just a computer glitch that caused $1200 to be added to my bill that evening for "Valet parking" when I didn't have a car.)
When I returned from California, someone kept calling to "interview" me. And then yesterday, I got a "threatening" e-mail after I responded in a sniffy tone to a Scientologist's nasty email putting down my old friend and anti-Scientology author, Robert Kaufman, who died a few years ago.
Below is the 2nd e-mail, followed by the first e-mail (actually my response to it; I put carats before her comments) and a brief write-up on the visit.

Or do you mean Scientology, which he realized 20 years earlier caused people to go crazy and lose their sense of compassion and reality, as obviously happened to you.

As for the visiot, some idiot kept calling when I got back from California, trying to "interview" me. He didn't leave a phone number, and claimed to be writing an undergraduate paper on Scientology. (They never change their story.)
And then Friday, a Robert Bryan (Robert Ryan?) simply showed up downstairs and tried to get up to my apartment to see me but the doorman blocked him.
I asked the doorman to tell him to call me and he did, repeating his cover story (by the way, he was described as in his mid 50's, hardly a typical undergrad) and I told him that I don't do interviews on Scientology.
He then asked me what they really wanted to know: "Your book is quite dated. Are you writing a new one?" I told him no and that he could get all the updated information he wanted by going to alt.religion.scientology, or reading "L. Ron Hubbard: Madman or Messiah" or "A Piece of Blue Sky."

Hey, that E-mail is coming from the same asshole who just sent the below included E-mail to Ron Newman. It's Joseph P. Taylor, and he's obviously on a mission from L Ron Hubbard. Maybe it's high time to report this criminal now to his ISP, and perhaps to the cops too, as if the cops in the U.S would bother...

Obviously the person who sent me this letter has confused me with someone else! I have never been a Scientologist and have never been to "flag", except to picket it.
The "Author's Note" of Russell Miller's _Bare-Faced Messiah_ gives thanks to a "Ron Newman in Woodside, California". That Ron Newman is not me, but he's probably the intended recipient of this missive.
If anyone knows how to reach this other Ron Newman, could you please forward this to him? Thanks.

Ron Newman, I remember when you came to flag to do your N/OTs. Wow, that was such a long time ago. You really have changed. I was on staff then and put you in session with your auditor then. With all of your rantings over the years, I thought is this the same guy?? Ive since done all of my bridge, (both sides) and I just don't get it. But I can firmly see that those mis-understood words you have connected to all of those overts, well you've really pinned yourself down man! I can see a person complain about times of out-tec, out-admin, out-ethics but to attack the actual tech is shear folly. I've had my battles with people from Int in the past 26 years. I've always stuck to my guns and maintained a steady course and blew any bastards away. Most of the time I did it with the pen, not the sword. There were times that I've had to kick the shit out of a staff member or two but I would never go berserk and attack the church through outside sources. When anyone attacked me within the church or outside, (Scientologists not on staff) I'd always site what crime they violated within the church's internal policy first, then I would also state what civil law that was broken and I've always resolved the problem within the church. Sometimes it was tough but I would not waver and always the son of a bitch who overtly attacked me or covertly attacked me eventually bit the dust, fact. All of the motivators I've recieved were all resolved within the church. Some were really fucking heavy shit. But I prevailed in the end. I remember you were so happy and granted so much beingness it was a joy to talk to you. What the hell did you do? Is that so important to you?
