Do you see a difference between paranoia personality and a person who is schizophrenic paranoid? Would you know of any brain surgery that would help cure that terrible illness?

There are actually three types of diagnosis' that we are discussing. Schizophrenic paranoid, schizophrenic with paranoid personaility disorder, and paranoid personality diorder.
Schizophrenic paranoid has the critical symptoms of a schizophrenic with additional criteria that would make it a paranoid type of schizophrenia. This diagnosis is a disgnosis of schizophrenia, but is more detailed in the type of schizophrenia it is. This additional criteria that must be met for this diagnosis is: A.Preoccupation with one or more delusions or frequent auditory hallucinations.
B.None of the following is prominent: disorganized speech, disorganized or catatonic behavior, or flat or inappropriate affect.
A person with paranoid personality disorder has sysmptoms that show a pervasive distrust and suspiciousness of others such that their motives are interpreted as malevolent, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. This diagnosis can be made singularly or in conjuction with many other axis one illnesses, such as bipolar, schizophrenia, etc. For a diagnosis of a paranoid personality disorder the following criteria must be met as stated in the DSMIV.
Symptoms of four (or more) of the following:
suspects, without sufficient basis, that others are exploiting, harming, or deceiving him or her is preoccupied with unjustified doubts about the loyalty or trustworthiness of friends or associates is reluctant to confide in others because of unwarranted fear that the information will be used maliciously against him or her reads hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into benign remarks or events persistently bears grudges, i.e., is unforgiving of insults, injuries, or slights perceives attacks on his or her character or reputation that are not apparent to others and is quick to react angrily or to counterattack has recurrent suspicions, without justification, regarding fidelity of spouse or sexual partner
A diagnosis of schizophrenic with a paranoid personailty disorder can be made if a person fits the symptoms for schizophrenia and fits the symptoms for a paranoid personailty disorder. It is almost like two seperate diagnosis, while a schizophrenic paranoia type is a specific type of schizophrenia.
There is no published, medically supported brain surgery that I know of that could help with this illness. There have been what is considered now by professionals inhumane brain surgeries, such as a labotomy which helped some of the symptoms.
There are treatments though. The main ones are psychotherapy, medications, and selfhelp. All these have been proven to be helpful in treating various symptoms. The best thing for a person to do is to consult a psychiatrist whom can tailor the treatment around the patient.
This is a lot of information, if it was confusing, please let me know so I can clarify it for you.
