Christianity is a severe mental disorder that is cripilling the USA and preventing it from reaching its full potentional. What can be done about this serious disorder? What do you do when presented with a patient who exhibits the Christianity disorder?

Hi there !!! First, I would like to specify that Christiany is not the disorder itself , desillusion is ...:-))There is nothing wrong to believe in a God and most people need that when they are in despair , it helps them go throughout some hard times in life and the message given from it is love thy neighbour...What could be wrong with this ???
I think you want to refer here to schizophrenia...Correct me if I am wrong
But I understand your question. The thing when you are facing a person with a schizophrenia problem...or "illusion de grandeur" as they say in French, is that you have to take something in the scheme the client is presenting to you and turn it into something that could be productive for the being and for the society.
At some point , the client will tell you things that he feels and firmly believesIn this , there will be substance for you to turn it into a productive thing ... Let me tell you of an example ..:-))
There was this man who thought he was Jesus Christand no one knew what to do with him exept to sedate him and keep him under strict surveillance . When he met this psychologist and explained him he was Jesus Christ, the psychologist after thinking for a while said to him , "- Then your father is a carpenter , you must know about that area of work " Of course , the patient couldn't say otherwise and agrred with him. So, slowly the psychologist led him into the carpenting trade and that man made furnitures, chairs and all kind for over 20 years and succeeded in retrieving a salary of $ 15 000.00/year.
Schizophrenia is a brain disorder that will last about 25 years and there is not much to do with it to cure it . The thing I believe in this is to take one aspect of the "illusion" and modify it , then it is bound for the whole situation to change and something can be done out of it that may allow the individual to lead a normal life ...or just about . But counseling and a close watch on such persons are required at all times.
And by the way, Christianity is indeed a disease when pushed to the extreme . Mietzche talked about it long and large in many books that he wrote . He was as well accused of being at the core of the Nazi ideology... :-))
But I do not believe that there is anything wrong in praying once in a while for a better world than the one we are living in...:-))
Sincerely, Mystic Knight

Christianity is based on delusion, so it fits your test for disease. It need not be a problem if the delusion is focussed on desirable things. It is a severe problem when the person has harmless feelings that conflict with his beliefs. It is also a problem when the deludee thinks that everybody else must be forced to conform with his delusions. Your comments on schizoprenia are very interesting. If you can't remove the delusion it does make sense to turn it in a useful direction. Christianity can destroy a persons life.
