I was diagnosed with BPD in March of 1999. I have had mental/emotional problems my entire life but generally dropped out of therapy within the first six weeks(therapy started for me at age 10)for various reasons. When I stated going lat year again I was given medication for the first time ever, wow it had made an enormous diference. My question is my therapist does not think I have BPD she thinks I am quite simply an Adult Child of Alcoholic/Codependents that has had an exssevie amount of. When studding both issues I see they are very very similar in nature. Can anyone give me more info on the correlation between the two, is there any? Should I believe my Psychiatrist who had me fill out a bunch of tests and talked to me for an hour.

If you trust your doctor, I would listen to him. He (or she) sounds to me like they know what they are talking about. And usually those types of test are accurate.
If the meds your taking help, then it does not matter much what the actually Dx is. Since it seems like your are getting the right treatment no matter what the label is. Getting the right treatment is the key. And yes the right label helps in getting the right treatment, but you seem to be getting the right treatment. What are the meds you are on now?
Sometimes doctors just throw around the label BPD, the syptoms seem to be there so someone gets Dx that. Sounds like to me you found a doctor who wanted to take the time to find out what was really going on with you.
I would believe him since the therpy you are on is helping.
