I enjoy doing things for other people. Even though I am a male, I enjoy cooking for people and taking them a dish; when I see something that reminds me of a friend, I may buy it and give it to them, I make tapes of my vast music collection and give them to my friends and all kinds of other stuff.
By some divine revelation, it occured to me, "why are you always giving stuff away, isn't it time you got something in return?" Besides the personal satisfaction of giving my life away to others, why do I do so much for others?

It sounds like you're a caring, thoughtful friend who feels like he needs to connect with like-minded people. I think that nearly everyone is like that on some level- They want to feel a part of something, involved.
Unfortunately, the people you surround yourself with are not as thoughtful or caring! If you enjoy giving just because it makes you happy, then do it. If you feel you need something in return, then find friends who will appreciate and reciprocate your thoughtfulness!
