Two county jail inmates and Bibles

Attention Fundies:

Reading my latest ACLU newsletter, I found this.

In Kay County (Oklahoma---this newsletter is the Okla. edition) the sheriff refused to allow two county jail inmates to have bibles. ACLU Attorney Rex Friend took action in the case and was able to persuade the sheriff to permit the two inmates to keep their bibles. No lawsuit was required, but it was an option.

The resolution of this matter marks the second time in two years that Mr. Friend has regained access to a bible for a county jail inmate. A similar situation in the Canadian County jail was rectified by Mr. Friend and the ACLU in 1995.
