Anonymous asked this question on 5/7/2000:
If asked during an interview, "If a co-worker tells you that someone has sexually harassed her, what should your response be?" Also what is the position of a lead worker in response to the same question.
hrpro2000 gave this response on 5/8/2000:
Your answer to the question should be: "I would advise her strongly to report the incident to whom ever is responsible for receiving such complaints within the company, or organization."
If you are a lead worker asked the same question, your response should be: "I would advise the individual that she and I should report the incident to whom ever is responsible for receiving such complaints within the company or organization", and if she is unwilling... then I would report what she told me, accurately and completely, to that same person.
In either situation, I would keep the information absolutely confidential in order to protect the privacy of both the individuals involved.
I hope this information is helpful to you...
