What does sexual harassment really mean and how do we know when open flirting becomes sexual harassment? Answers please. I have one so tell me yours!
samdur gave this response on 4/23/2000:
The true definition is any unwelcomed sexual comment, joke, physical contact, etc., that has an significant impact on the employee/person's employment performance and workplace environment. A second definition is is any type of sexual favor or request is tied directly to a persons employment status ( such as hiring, promotion, transfer, retaining employment etc.) The key to the first type is the word unwelcomed. Flirting is ok, asking someone out on a date is ok, but if the person gives you any type of indication that your comments or actions are unwelcomed, any further actions or comments may be regarded as sexual harassment.
