Hopefully you have read my first question so I wont have to go into that again. I just wanted to address what most of you suggested for me to do. Have any of you stayed at a shelter? Most kick you out after a couple weeks. How do you get your life started over in a couple weeks? The conditions are unbareable. Also as far going to the law for help, his dad is the police chief of our tiny town. Have you heard of the good ole boys? Thats what I live with. I know I have to get away from this man, but how?

Hi...you rated me a two star on my last answere and I hope that I can help a little more this time...Ok...I was married to a Deputy Sherriff in the town he grew up in and it took 10 years after I wanted to leave and actually did leave for things to get better...I did things wrong and I did some things right and these are the right things that I did ...it is not easy, it takes alot of courage and it can be done...1) call the Division of Family Services and explain that you need to leave a domestic violence situation and you need a safe house in the nearest large community...2)Once you leave have a goal in mind and use the resources at hand to keep yourself in housing...it is possible to do...Urban League, HUD, Any organization that works with Domestic Violence will have resources or know of resources, do not give up you will hhave done the hardest part...you have left 3) Set career/education plans, if you need training there are special services targeted specifically to women in situations like yours. 4) You are right, shelter stays are minimal time...but there are transitiional housing alternatives and funding for you to stay out of harms way... 5) If you choose to stay in the community you are in you are in danger of going back to the relationship... 6) Please contact me if I can be of any help at all
PS A restraining order is very necessary in situations like these...please note that you do not have to pay for this...nor do you need an attorney to file for it
