Hopefully you have read my first question so I wont have to go into that again. I just wanted to address what most of you suggested for me to do. Have any of you stayed at a shelter? Most kick you out after a couple weeks. How do you get your life started over in a couple weeks? The conditions are unbareable. Also as far going to the law for help, his dad is the police chief of our tiny town. Have you heard of the good ole boys? Thats what I live with. I know I have to get away from this man, but how?

I have been there. My ex tried numerous times to kill me, he beat me, called me names and took great joy in holding gun to my head or a knife to my throat and explaining in graphic detail what would happen when he pulled the trigger or cut me. My father was one of the "dirty politicians" in the Louisiana city where I am originally from. My parents were abusive, controlling psychos who wanted me under their thumb. When I tried to start my own life with my 3 children, they went ballistic. My father began stalking me and teamed up with my ex to make my life a living hell. I left. I picked up my things and moved out of the state, 2500 miles away. Yes, it was hard, especially with 3 small children, but I did it and I am so happy that I did. Now I go to college and am planning a career in law (family law - child abuse and domestic violence). I am very involved in the community. I have a life. You can too. I don't know where you live, but I will give you a few places to look for help. National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-79-SAFE http://www.ndvh.org/ These people can give you resources and help. Get out of the town, out of the state. I know one girl who lived in Wyoming with her abusive boyfriend. Through the battered women shelters, they helped her escape to Montana and start a new life. Also, a good list of resources: http://www.cybergrrl.com/fs.jhtml?/views/dv/ and http://www.angelfire.com/la/ImASurvivor/index.html Ideally, you need to get out. One day it won't just stop with the name calling or beating...one day he will kill you. Protection Orders are pretty worthless (my own and many others (dead others) experience). I wish you the best of luck. Let us know how things go!
