Can you tell me more about the program that helped you?

My ex was court ordered to a program called, ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS FOR ABUSIVE MEN. (It didn't help him.) The therapist in that program worked with a woman therapist and she treated women of abusive relationships. That program was called, WOMEN'S VOICES. It was a group for battered women. There were 5 of us in the group, and we all had one thing in common: we were abused by our significant others. The group focused on EMPOWERMENT, SELF-ESTEEM, SELF-AFFIRMATION and LEARNING THAT THE ONLY PERSON YOU CAN CHANGE IS YOURSELF. The group is run by a woman named Jennifer Parker and her office is located in Madison, Wisconsin.(Marshall Ct.) Of the 5 of us in my group, only 1 remained in her relationship; primarily because of her religious beliefs. In that group, I learned how to keep clear of the verbal traps, recognize different types of abuse, form a plan for safety, and how to ultimately leave my spouse. I also learned more about the resourses out there for women in my situation. If you need more information, please write to me at Trinaspony@aol.com YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE ABUSED, NO MATTER WHAT THE MAN TELLS YOU; IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.
