I was adopted when I was three. My adoptive family were extremely abusive. I can't count how many trips I took to the nurses office for bruises or injuries caused by the abuse, or the number of times a social worker came to question me. Nothing was ever done. My father had me put in a mental hospital and drugged for 2 years. Finally a doctor realized I was not mentally ill and took me off of them. I've enver been able to let go because I often wonder how many other children are treated this way. Is there any action I can take?

Probably not at this stage being so long after the problems occurred. However, there could be some little known law in your State so contact a local attorney and see if they can help. Also there are some jurisdictions which allow specific "child-related" issues to be pursued in court even after most statutes-of-limitations have run out on other issues. I would at least write everyone concerned, especially medical and State agencies, to let them know of your difficulties and consider legal actions against your adoptive family if that is possible and they are still alive. Again, a good attorney can advise you on this as well.
Best of luck and take care.

Thank you for your honesty. Most people just tell me to leave it alone. At least now I have something to go on.
