I think that you should be definately afraid of him,anybody who does not know how to deal with their emotions or has let their emotions get so out of control that they only know how to deal with it is through anger has a problem. You should not have let the sitiuation have gotten this far though in staying with it you also promote it, in that he feels that this is an acceptable way with you to vent his anger or fustration or fear or any negative strong emotion he has.
