Hi,
I want an opinion from the experts in this category. If someone chooses to spank their child for discipline, do you think they should have their child taken away from them by social services? I have a friend who disciplines her child with spanking. Her child went to school one day and told a teacher that she gets spanked. The next day social services were at her door, they had her under investigation for months. They told her if she spanks and/or yells at her child it is abuse and they will come back and take this child from her. That child loves her mother and she is a good mom. She provides for her and nutures her fully. They are very close and this would distroy this child.
Do you think this is right?

Hi, In a way it depends how far spanking a child goes. Personally i don't believe in violence to dicipline, simply grounding or reasoning works best in my opinion. However, Its really weird that the social services have actually threaten the mother like that, im sure it wasn't anything serious, maybe the child got hurt doing something and maybe the teacher thought the mother did it? It is very important for the mother to explain what's happening with the child, to the child. She should try her best to explain that if she "spanks her or yells" is simply in order to look for what is best for her.I also believe the mother should speak with the teacher and explain things. WEll im not sure of how much help i was, Sorry. Sincerely LAli
