I have an ex-husband who was arrested on 2/12/00 for Felony Spousal Abuse (Felony Inflicting Corporal Injury on Domestic Partner)in CA. He was held until 2/24/00, released to his father, ordered to stay away from his wife, and ordered to enroll in a "batterer's program". He is to return to court on 3/9/00 with proof of enrollment in a program. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 3/30/00.
This is his second jail time for DV, the first time with me over 10 years ago, in jail overnight, no charges pursued.
What are the next steps in the court process? What does a preliminary hearing entail and what could the possible outcomes be? What is the likelyhood of him receiving a conviction and doing more jail time? What other penalties could he face?
Thank you for your time.
