I need advice as soon as possible. I have been a victim of domestic violence for the past 3 years. I have moved 4 times in 2 different states to try to escape, but am always found. Each time it gets worse. The authorities are no help (restraints are only pieces of paper). I cant afford to move again on my own, especially when I know that I will be found. I know that if I dont do something drastic, he WILL kill me. Is there anyone out there who can help me? I have a teenage son and care for my mother. How can I get someplace safe? Is there a way to change my name without it becoming a matter of public record?

Friend, I think it is great that you can admit you need help. That is the first stet to healing. There are groups out there that can help your family as well as yourself through this very overwhelming situation. Many people don't realize a lot can be done w/o changing your whole life style. To change just your appearence (never your insides) get a really hot pair of fake glasses and high light your hair. Both are very in this season. You should also talk to the authorities. They really can help. Changing your name is a good idea. They can tell you where to do it and how it works. I can't because it depends on the state. Well I hope it helps.
