casra asked this question on 5/17/2000:
Well, I had a peek at the xianity side of things. One woman is freaking out because her 18 year old son is getting into Wicca and wants to know how to make him get out of it. One, Father Chuck I believe, is actually stating that wiccans will actually put "demon attached pins under his skin to follow him around. And they tell him that if he tries to remove them he'll die, and many kids believe it so much that they do die." Wonder if he means body piercing????
I can hardly believe it in this day and age! I get the feeling this is the same sort that said abot Dunguens and Dragons books, "If you burn them they scream!" And that the figurines wake up at night and walk around!
She's asking questions about wicca, shouldn't we at least give her the Whole Truth?

*wanders over to Christianity to see what exactly is going on, reads post from ms_emt and the various responces*
__Hmmmm.... Interesting... Nice to know _everyone_ is misquoted at times.
__Yes, Father Chuck does say some pretty nasty things about Wiccans, but at least quote him directly instead of interpreting it in your own words.
__The actual quote which you are indicating is "...they put curse pins with demons attached under the skin of members that allows them to be followed, they are told if they take the pins out, they die, they believe this so much that many do actually die if taken out."
__No where in his post did he relate any specific occurance where he himself was the victim of such an attack. I also very well doubt if he's refering to body piercing. Nor was there any indication of such an occurence in ms_emt's question. Her question was asked mainly out of partental concern, ignorance, and intolerance.
__I invite anyone to go and look. It's negative, but no more negative than any what any other soul redeaming jesus saving bible thumper would say.
__I think every just needs to take a deep breath, relax, and not provoke any unnecessary verbal accusations.
__Remember the only way to understand each other is to listen to everything that is said, and not see who can speak with the loudest voice. Humankind is a long way away from being peaceful, and tolerant of differnces, but every time we accuse someone of something out of misjudgement or even miscommunication we take a step back instead of forward.
__Now as far as giving her "the Whole Truth" I'll just wander back over there and add another response.
Peace... D.
