Is there such a thing as an afterlife in Wicca? How does it, if it exists, compare to the views of Christians or Moslems? If it doesn't exist, what do Wiccans see as reason to live a good or fulfilling life?
TripleGoddess gave this response on 5/14/2000:
It is my belief and as far as I know, the belief of other Wiccans, that there is a wonderful after life ahead of us called the Summer Land. I would say that it is comparable to what Christians would call heaven. The difference in our belief of the after life compared to Christians is that heaven to Christians is a reward for their good lives, but the Summer Land is not a reward, but a place to reflect and be nurtured before our spirit is returned to earth. Wicca is a life choice and part of that choice is to honor all of the Earth and Her creatures. We make conscious choices to be good, decent beings. We do not abuse ourselves or others. We are very tolerant of differences and accepting of natural change. Each day we are shown a new miracle, a sunset, a bird soaring above, a child's laughter. The Summer Land is merely an extension of this life we live now. We are rewarded everyday with the grace of the Goddess, being "taken home" is our time to revel in our Mother's arms once more.
