I've been trying to start myself on a Wiccan path for several months now, but I have been having trouble finding information on where to start. Most of the information I've found on the Internet is either a general overview, love spells put up by someone who admits to not knowing what he/she is doing, or lessons that sound frighteningly similar to cult propoganda. I've tried meditating and looking within myself for guidance, but I've found nothing. Maybe I need guidance before attempting that, too. I just don't know. I don't feel comfortable looking to a local coven for help until I know what to expect. Bookstores here have very little (if any) pagan material. Not suprising, considering the community. I feel like the only option left open to me is to find a human teacher. I don't know where to start looking, though. Any help finding a teacher (or a different way to learn that I haven't tried yet) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

If it's a teacher you want, I can help you should you choose to write me personally. Visit my website for the address.
As for books on Wicca and Paganism, I can recommend several that are also available on my website thru Amazon.com. A human teacher is a good place to start, and I applaude your common sense. It is never wise to go off half cocked and join a coven with no idea what you're getting into. There are those covens which may call themselves Wiccan or Pagan, but in fact are nothing more than some really well thought out Satanic Cults. Please don't think I'm saying that you should be in fear of every coven out there, but knowing something about the inner workings is always wise before becoming a member of any coven. You need to be sure of yourself before you join forces with a larger group. Being self taught is a good beginning, but it's always nice to have a guiding hand. I currently have several students, and I teach them all on a one to one basis. Not everyone is ready to move to the next level at the same time. When you find the right teacher (and I may not be her) you will feel comfortable and you will learn at your own pace. A teacher that pushes you into things you're not ready for is not acceptable. I always tell students you don't build the roof first, a solid foundation is needed for every house. Think of your learning experience as a temple in progress. You start with breaking ground. When the ground is suitable you will make a foundation. Once the foundation you will begin building the structure. I will advise you of this in advance. ANYONE who tells you that you will learn EVERYTHING you need to know in a set period of time is not telling you the truth. Wicca is a lifelong project in the works. Every new day provides a new learning experience. I still have much to learn, but in the Goddess's time, not mine.
Bright Blessings, Raven
