VintageMama asked this question on 3/8/2000:
I have been a practicing pagan for 5 years, but I have practiced alone, without coven. I am opening a shop, and I'll be carrying tarot cards, wiccan jewelery, and other items which will bring other witches into my shop. Here's my problem. I'm afraid I've been alone too long! I'm not sure I'll know how to protect myself from witches who intend harm, and invite friendships with white witches. This is a tough-y for me! I don't want to be so open, that I invite in the wrong kinds of energy, but I don't want to be so closed that I keep potential friends out!

i pratice alone too, but i still talk, and fellowship with other witches. I do not believe that any true witch will want to harm you. there are many people who claim to be wiccan, but if harming you is at the top of there list, then there power is superficial, and you will always be able to protect yourself. open up slowly, and you will find many friends, who like you, pratice alone. sometimes, talking to and fellowshiping with other witches is one of the best experiences that you will ever have...but that does not mean that you have to join a coven. i really like going to full moon festivals, and holloween balls, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty of it all, all i need is me, my wand, and my god and goddess. I like to cast alone, but i like having my witch friends to talk to and ask advise. you never know, one of those people who come into your store, could be just what the goddess ordered. take the good with the bad, but as you well know...most of us are good!!! :)
merry part, and godess bless
