Is there such thing as wizards? By the word wizards, I mean people who practice magic(k) w/out the religion, maybe you could say in a 'merlin' sort of way? Is there anything like or close to this? thank you for your help!....

Certainly, Paganism includes all sorts of different styles, there are people who love the beauty and the sensitivity of the religion, while others are drawn to the personal empowerment (magic) of the lifestyle. I've rarely heard them called wizards, though... usually the term Witch can be used for male or female. But I'm sure that, since these paths are so individual, there must be some out there who would prefer being referred to as Wizards. Just don't call them "Warlocks" (celtic term for a traitor or "oath-breaker").

Is it possible to only practice the magic and have it work? Or does someone have to be religiously involved for anything to happen? You know...like in Chrsitianity, how a person must be saved in order for God to anwser their prayer.

I know of many practitioners of magic who are not active in the religion itself. And yes, it does work. Remember that magic works with the energy you invest into it.
