You're right, the phrase "In my opinion" IS redundant. I really wish that I could just state "$cientology IS a SCAM" because I KNOW it is. However, I've observed that when it comes to talking to people on the street, people who don't know much about $cientology I sound more trustworthy when I take responsibility for ALL the statements I make. Adding that short phrase shows I am taking responsibility for what I say. By doing this I seem to be more effective at getting through to them. I don't think I would be as effective if I tried to cram MY reality about $cientology down their throat.

Besides, when I add that phrase the clamheads CAN'T say I'm lying.
