"Battlefield Earth" is a very, very bad movie, and yet there is a certain pleasure to be had watching it. Realizing it is the worst movie of the year means that it can only get better after this.
This movie is a career-wrecker along the lines of legendary bombs such as "Ishtar" and "Showgirls." It will be used to frighten young children and aspiring filmmakers for a generation to come.

How bad is "Battlefield Earth?" Last year the cable comedy series "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" -- which had on-camera characters wisecracking as they watched the worst movies ever made -- breathed its last. If they ever decide to revive it, "Battlefield Earth" will be the first film they'll want to show.
