Mucky, hammy 'Battlefield Earth' is simply Travolting
By Steven Rosen Denver Post Movie Critic
May 12 - John Travolta's "Battlefield Earth" is so thoroughly a stinker that one wants not to criticize it so much as just say a short prayer and move on. You don't watch it - you survive it.
This is what can happen when big stars run amok - they get trapped in a muck of their own making. "Battlefield Earth" is a noisy and relentlessly ugly-looking film, with incoherent action, chaotic direction, wincingly stiff dialogue and amateurishly overstated acting.
