I am planning to buy a fishing boat in the near future (small recreational) for lake fishing, since I live nowhere near the ocean. My question is what type of boat would you suggest? Fiberglass, aluminum, etc. It will probably be an older one if that makes any difference. Any suggestions? Thanks

Torg:Welcome to the wonderful world of boating. You didnt give me much info but Ill do the best I can. A minimum length would be 14 ft.Get the beamiest[width]hull you can.Feet = dollars so that can be a guide. There are many on the market. Test the boat for leaks. Its an easy job.Fill the boat with a garden hose bringing the level up to the waterline. If she leaks its up to you if the price is right. If only small leak[s] they can be filled with a good marine silicon sealer.Dont worry about dents,it shows the guy has been using it. Only problem w/fiberglass is weight. But,you usually get a more stable craft.Gonna cost more for a glass boat.If you ding her the repairs are more complicated. Take into consideration the water you wuill fish.If you are on the Great Lakes or something large note that they do get pretty bumpy. On any boat, regardless of size ,watch the weather.Anything I havent covered, get back to me.safe boating,icarius31 If you like my reply please rate it.Thanks.
