What is the definition of a yacht? When does a boat become a yacht?

I guess the answer is similar to what is the difference between a boat and a ship. you can put a boat on a ship, but you can't put a ship on a boat. The difference I'm sure in the eye of the beholder. What is a yacht to me, and what is a yacht to someone else might be different. I'm not sure that you'll get a clear defination of yacht. Does it make a difference to you?

Then I will be unable to answer your question more specifically.Suggest you refer to Webster for an exact answer. However, If I lived in Cabo San Lucas, I would be out chasing a Black Marlin rather than discussing Yachts. Good fishing. wish I was there. Do you know Doc McClelland, he retired there.
