Why does it seem that major crimes are being comitted more and more by young teenagers. Where does the violence come from? Why are they so angry?

In my personal and professional opinion, there are many reasons for the increase in juvenile crime. One of the largest issues can come from being raised by only one parent who probably has to work outside the home. This gives the child (under 18) too much free time alone even though in most cases, there is no alternative since child care can be a long shot to lower incom households. When a child has too much time on their hands, they start looking for ways to fill that time. They are usually also lonely for company and social acceptance. So, more times then not, they end up choosing others like themselves and the group seems to encourage each other. Truly sad.
Another reason for increased violence even though they will not admit it often is the fact that todays kids ARE scared. All parents should visit the high schools and even the Junior High Schools. Things have REALLY changed. When I was in school, I didn't have to worry about being shot over a pair of Nike's. Kids today can hardly function normally in school because of all the violence. Imagine the kids returning to Columbine this year. Our Government has got to make more programs available for these kids with no where to go. Otherwise, the problem will increase and that will be a tragedy for all. We have got to find a way to stop the violence.
