Hi, I have to do a Research project on Serial Killers, im not sure how to start it, all i find is examples of them. Nothing really intresting. i was wondering if anyone can help with absolutely anything. I'm trying to maybe, discover something unknown, or simply a way to make my project different and unique. My thesis sentence is.. Although serial killers' actions stem from their early childhood, they should still be held accountable for their crimes. Any opinions, facts or ideas, will be really appreciated. Thanks Lali

also look up Constitutional psychopathic inferiority, National center for the analysis of violent crimes.I can give you some issues on underlying causes and predictors and motives for you to research that I used for my thesis. Animal cruelty is sometimes a common characteristic of serial killers as well as arson, no feelings of guilt, most kill people who they see as unwanted and unmissed. another good movie to see is seven with brad pitt, a good look into the mind of a serial killer, but you have to pay attention. There is ususally a theme or pattern in their killings. A serial killer usually leaves a body where it can be found. and they stage the body, set it up in obscene poses. they may take personal items and/or photos of their victims as trophies. Some are known to be bed wetters. They have higher than average intelligence, some times bonifide geniouses, but classic underachievers. Check out the Bundy case. Good case to use as case study. Dahmer is too. Remember, A SERIAL KILLER IS NOT A MASS MURDERER!!!! The FBI definition of a serial criminal is one who committs 3 or more crimes within in short time frame, usually but not limited to 3 or more months, it can be 3 crimes committed over 3 days. Most important to a serial killers Motive is he does not need one. A serial killer will kill for no reason. Not even because he "wanted to" It is not a forceable compulsion, they can controll it,they dont want to, they enjoy killing. for most it is a psychological game, a challange if you will, to see what they can do, to whom, and for how long, and to how many. they know what they are doing and they know it is wrong and the consquences to all those involved. They dont care. Most serial killers are incapable of Love. Not even for their own families or selves. They are motivated by nothing and everything.
